Typically people are told to change their diet and take some type of medication. Usually, a statin.
But, what if there is more to cholesterol than that? Well, there definitely is.
Cholesterol has many different purposes in our bodies, but (outside of diet) there are two common reasons I see people with high cholesterol.
First, is improper thyroid function. Proper thyroid will metabolize cholesterol. The two work together in order to create our sex hormones, such as pregnenolone, progesterone, testosterone, etc. If thyroid isn’t working properly then that will leave excess cholesterol.
Also, inflammation. Acute or chronic inflammation will raise cholesterol levels. Lower your inflammation = lowering your cholesterol.
So, before you reach for that statin, I would check into these two things!
Remember, I’m not a doctor, so be sure to run all of this by your medical professional 🙂
