Oh yeah, this was me…

Oh yeah, this was me…

Even though I hear it constantly, I am just really not a fan of the word diet. Mostly, just because it assumes something short term.

My question has always been “So, what happens to your diet when / if you reach your goal?”

The biggest question being IF. Because a diet is typically also paired with being unhappy while you’re on it. I personally have zero desire to trade my happiness for better aesthetics.

BUT, that doesn’t mean that you can’t look, feel and perform better and enjoy your food at the same time! Because, you can. So, when trying to change your nutritional lifestyle, here are just a few of my recommendations:

1. Pay attention to your vitamin / mineral intake. Most people have never really known if they have any real deficiencies because they’ve never tracked their food in that way.

2. Read your food labels. Know what is in the brands / products you’re purchasing. There is a lot of deception out there.

3. Don’t be afraid of carbohydrates. If you don’t tolerate them well, there IS a reason and it CAN be remedied.

4. Instead of saying certain foods are “good” or “bad” focus on more on what YOU can tolerate. Certain foods can be good for some people and not so great for others.

5. Know that you won’t be perfect. No one ever is. Just don’t quit and you will get where you want to go.
