Why playing outside in the rain just might be good for you

Playing in the rain can be great for your brain health as well as for your movement!

Your brain has what’s called a feeding pattern. Which, essentially means the direction that the energy and nutrients get to the different areas of your brain.

It starts from the bottom and works it’s way up and then from the back and works it’s way forward.

If there are any areas of the brain that aren’t working as well as they should be then they take more energy than they should, leaving less energy for the rest of the brain.

In our brain our sensory area comes just before our movement area. Being out in the rain is an easy and fun way to train our sensory area of the brain! The rain is typically cold (which is a sensation) and we can actually feel the rain hitting us all over our body, which also trains the sensory area.

So, being out and playing in the rain can better train our sensory system potentially leaving more energy to make it up to the movement part of our brains!

Go play out in the rain!
